Installing a sauna requires a specific electrical connection due to the constraints of power and temperature. Elecprium carries out sauna electrical installations in full compliance with safety standards.
The electrical requirements of a sauna
A domestic sauna is high-power equipment that demands:
- Dedicated circuit: direct supply from the consumer unit
- High power rating: from 3.5 kW to 9 kW depending on the cabin volume
- Heat-resistant cabling: high-temperature silicone cables inside the cabin
- Appropriate protection: dedicated circuit breaker and 30 mA RCD
- Cable cross-section: 4 mm² to 6 mm² depending on the heater power
Safety requirements
- Temperature: cables inside the cabin must withstand temperatures above 170 °C
- Control unit: installed outside the cabin in a ventilated location
- Isolation switch: accessible from outside the cabin
- Earthing: mandatory for the heater and all metal elements
- Safety distances: compliance with minimum clearances between the heater and combustible materials
