Broken Yagi aerial: act quickly
A broken or torn-off Yagi aerial is not just a television reception problem. It is also a potential hazard: a loose mast or a dangling aerial risks falling and causing property damage or even injury.
Signs of a damaged aerial
- Aerial visibly tilted or bent on the roof
- Broken elements (missing or bent metal rods)
- Loose or bent mast with slack guy wires
- Coaxial cable torn away or hanging along the façade
- Sudden total loss of reception after a weather event
The most common causes
Weather conditions
The PACA region is exposed to strong winds (Mistral, Mediterranean storms) that exert considerable forces on aerials at height. Hail can also break the aerial elements.
Ageing
Untreated steel fixings rust over time. Clamps, screws and guy wires can fail after several years of exposure to the elements, even without a specific weather event.
Inadequate installation
An undersized mast, insufficient fixings or the absence of guy wires are frequent causes of aerial collapse, particularly during the first storms.

In the event of a dangling or unstable aerial, we first make the installation safe to eliminate any risk of collapse:
- Removal of the hazardous aerial
- Temporary securing of hanging cables
- Verification of roof integrity
Aerial replacement
We then carry out a complete replacement:
- Selection of an aerial suited to your reception area
- Fitting of a reinforced mast with stainless steel fixings
- Professional guying for tall masts
- New cabling if the existing cable is damaged
- Earthing compliant with NFC 15-100
- Alignment and testing with a field strength meter
Partial repair
If only certain components are damaged (rods, reflector, connectors), we can carry out a partial repair rather than a complete replacement, depending on the overall condition of the installation.
Preventing damage
- Choose a galvanised steel or corrosion-resistant aluminium mast
- Install stainless steel guy wires, especially in exposed areas
- Have the fixings checked annually by a professional
- Opt for a compact aerial if you are in a strong-coverage area: less wind resistance
