What is powerline networking (CPL)?
A CPL socket (Courant Porteur en Ligne, or powerline adapter) lets you run internet through your home's electrical wiring, from one socket to another, without going through WiFi and without running a single cable. By plugging a first CPL adapter into a power socket near your router and a second adapter into the room you want to cover, you get a stable internet connection within minutes.
Does CPL work everywhere in the house?
It depends on your electrical installation. In a single-phase home (the vast majority of properties), the CPL signal travels smoothly between all sockets, as long as they are on the same meter. In a three-phase installation, however, both adapters must be on the same phase to work properly: on a different phase, the connection will be degraded, or may not work at all, unless a phase coupler is fitted. This is something we systematically check during our diagnosis.
When should you opt for CPL?
CPL is the ideal solution in several situations:
- Thick stone walls that block the WiFi signal
- Multi-storey properties where WiFi does not reach far enough
- Need for a stable connection for remote working or streaming
- Inability to run cables in an older property or a rented home
Good news for Starlink users
CPL is compatible with your Starlink installation: the Standard kit's router has a built-in Ethernet port, which you simply plug into the first CPL adapter to distribute the connection throughout the house, even across several floors.

Electrical network diagnosis
Before any installation, our technicians check the quality of your electrical network. An outdated or undersized circuit can reduce CPL performance. We check in particular:
- The condition of the consumer unit and NFC 15-100 compliance
- The quality of the electrical sockets
- The absence of interference on the network
Installation and configuration
We select the CPL adapters best suited to your needs (speed, number of ports, built-in WiFi) and install them optimally:
- Plugged directly into wall sockets (never into an extension lead)
- Secure network configuration
- Speed testing and optimisation
Tips for maintaining performance
- Avoid plugging CPL adapters into extension leads or surge protectors
- Prefer sockets on the same electrical circuit
- Regularly update the firmware of the adapters
- If speed drops, check that no interfering electrical device is plugged in nearby
