Facade lighting: giving your home character
The facade is the first thing people see of your house, by day and by night. Well-designed facade lighting highlights it, secures the approach and makes coming home easier once night falls. It's also one of the improvements that most visibly transforms the look of a house, for a modest budget.
Two goals, often complementary
Functional lighting
First, it's about seeing: the gate, the entrance, the path, the steps. Well-placed functional lighting prevents missteps and keeps evening movement safe, for you and your visitors alike.
Architectural lighting
Then it's about enhancing: highlighting stonework, textured render, a cornice, a striking section of wall. It's a play of grazing light or accent lighting that gives depth and character to features that daylight doesn't bring out in the same way.
The two combine very well within a single installation, using different sources for each purpose.
The solutions we install
Adjustable floodlights
Positioned at ground level or as a low wall light, they illuminate the facade with grazing light, which accentuates textures and relief (stone, render, cladding). It's the most spectacular solution for a facade with strong character.
Recessed spotlights in the facade or ground
Discreet by day, they create vertical points of light along a wall or pillar, for a more contemporary, streamlined look.
Entrance wall lights
Placed on either side of the door, they light the approach while contributing to the overall look. Available in a wide range of styles, from classic to contemporary.
Accent LED strips
Integrated under a cornice or along an architectural line, they create a luminous edge that highlights the volumes of the house without glare.
Technical requirements to respect
- IP rating: IP44 minimum for any facade fitting, IP65 for heavily exposed floodlights
- Dedicated circuit with 30 mA RCD: essential for any outdoor circuit
- H07RN-F cable in ICTA conduit: resistance to UV and weathering over time
- Careful aiming: a poorly aimed floodlight will glare passers-by or neighbours rather than showcase the facade
- Dusk sensor or motion sensor option: for automatic switch-on at nightfall without having to think about it
Our approach
We visit to study your facade, by day and by night if possible, identify the features to highlight and determine the optimal position for each light point. The wiring is neatly integrated, with no unsightly visible cables.
